The numbers are in from the 8th Annual Grillers Cup held at Lakewood Camping Resort at the end of September! The event was more than just a hot pickin’ finger lickin’ good time! This year’s competition raised $11,000 for BackPack Buddies/Help4Kids, a local nonprofit that works to help eliminate child hunger in the community.
“The event was our best yet! Everyone that came out really enjoyed the music and abundance of wings and pulled pork. The addition of the new vendors helped to create a full-fledged festival,” said Help4Kids Event Coordinator Bridget Brancato.
Lakewood Camping Resort’s general manager, Kevin Strickland, presented the check to Brancato Wednesday morning.
“The Grillers Cup is an opportunity for Lakewood and its employees to serve our community by raising money for an organization dedicated to serving children in need. We are thrilled to present this check to Help4Kids,” said Strickland.
A total of 21 teams from across the state of South Carolina participated in the chicken wing & pork butt competitions, which were sanctioned by the South Carolina Barbecue Association.
