Carolina Strong: Ongoing Support for Hurricane Helene Relief

Lakewood Camping Resort is no stranger to natural disasters. As we watch the recovery efforts unfold in other parts of the Carolinas, we feel a calling to do more for the communities and campgrounds in disarray following Hurricane Helene.

First, we want to thank all who generously donated to the Hurricane Helene Relief Drive last week. We received an overwhelming supply of essential items for our neighbors who call the mountains and upstate home.

Unfortunately, the recovery process is going to take time. We want to make sure these hard-hit communities are not forgotten. So, we will continue to find ways to offer our support.

Chicken Bog-Off for a Cause

This week, we will continue to gather supplies for the victims through a Chicken Bog-Off. Guests are asked to provide a minimum donation of one grocery bag of essentials per meal. Lakewood Camping Resort will see to it that all donations will be delivered to those struggling in the aftermath of the storm. Our Chicken Bog for a Cause event will begin at noon on Friday, October 11 outside the Trading Post. This event is open to the public!

Additionally, Lakewood Camping Resort would like to acknowledge the damage inflicted on campgrounds in the western regions of the Carolinas. Many of these campgrounds, like Lakewood, are family owned and operated. Many have a long road of recovery ahead. Others may never reopen.  These campgrounds are part of the fabric of their communities, providing jobs and economic support through tourism.

To help these fellow campground owners and operators, Lakewood is standing beside the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, also known as CARVC, and the National Outdoor Hospitality Industry, known in short as OHI, to support these campgrounds. The OHI Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund aids these businesses during natural disasters.

If you, too, want to help in these efforts through a monetary donation, CLICK HERE  and click the “Donate Now” button. On that page under “Available Funds”, select “Disaster Relief Fund” and click “Donate.” On the next page, enter your contact information, and in the box called “Discount Code” enter “CARVC”. This code signals that you want your donations to go to the campgrounds in the Carolinas. Any amount is appreciated – and the small amounts add up! The more who give, even a small amount, will add up to big help for these campgrounds, their families, and employees. We just want to bring attention to the need in our very own industry.

Lakewood Camping Resort thanks you for your continued support.
