Update May 4th, 2020 8:00 AM

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

The governor announced that he has lifted Executive Order 2020-19 because CDC guidance identifying “hotspots” throughout the country, which constituted the basis upon which short term rental companies were to deny reservations, has since lapsed and was not renewed. The governor has also lifted Executive Order 2020-14, which required individuals entering the state from the same “hotspots” to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Governor McMaster and state epidemiologist Dr. Linda Bell strongly urged anyone considered to be “at-risk” based on CDC guidance to limit exposure to others and for all South Carolinians to continue prioritizing their travels between home and work, when possible. Anybody who is sick or is showing symptoms of COVID-19 should immediately contact a healthcare provider and self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days.

Beginning today, May 4th, we will accept new and existing reservations from those states that were deemed hot-spots; NY, NJ or CT.

Updated April 24th, 2020 10:00PM

As we mentioned earlier, everything is subject to change based on official orders. We are required to follow mandates given by South Carolina and Governor Henry McMaster as well as our local Horry County Government.

With the state ordinance set to expire in 3 days and the ordinance issued by Horry County to expire within 7 days, we made the decision to plan on opening May 1st. We still plan to do so assuming mandates are not extended.

Until we have official word after the Governors announcement on Monday, we will only make new reservations arriving May 15th or later.

Those with reservations between the dates of May 1st and May 15th, please bear with us until we are given a direct order we can open.

We understand that it is frustrating to make or change travel plans however, we are in a state of uncertainty.

We hope to sea you soon!

We are Hopeful! As of now, we do not have a set re-opening date. This will be determined when given direction from state officials. No new reservations can be made prior to June 1st. All other information can be found at www.lakewoodcampground.com/coronavirus.

Updated April 21st, 2020 1:00 PM

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday afternoon our Governor Henry McMaster addressed the re-opening of parts of the state.

During his briefing, the Governor did not lift his order regarding the opening of lodging (hotels, motels, campgrounds, etc). Therefore, we are not taking new reservations for the month of May at this time. We are taking new reservations beginning June 1st. Again, subject to change based on official orders.

Due to the fact the Governor has not lifted the ordinance concerning lodging at this point and time, Lakewood is issuing full refunds to guests who wish to cancel their May reservations. We will keep you advised if the lodging situation changes for May as we are still waiting for direction from our state officials.

We know this is frustrating and we thank you for your patience during this time. We can’t wait to have everyone back at the beach! All updates will be made on our social media outlets and website. www.lakewoodcampground.com/coronavirus.

Updated April 2, 2020 12:00 PM

To limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Horry County, SC (the county in which Lakewood Camping Resort is located) has issued a new mandate which prohibits all accommodation businesses (hotels, motels, campgrounds, etc) from accepting new guests until at least May 1, 2020.

Consequently, we are closing the resort to new camping guests on Friday, March 27, 2020. If you have a reservation with an arrival date between March 27, 2020 and April 30, 2020, our Reservation Department will be contacting you in the next few days to reschedule your vacation at a date on or after May 1, 2020. If rescheduling your vacation isn’t a possibility, we will finalize the cancellation and issue a full refund using the original payment method for the reservation (check or credit card). You do not need to call the office to cancel your reservation or request a refund. We will call you.

If you are a transient guest in the park now, you may complete your reservation until the currently scheduled departure date. You cannot extend the reservation.

If you are an Annual Lease holder and are in the resort now and have been continuously since March 1, 2020, you are exempt from the county mandate. You can stay in the resort. However, we are not able to admit any visiting family or friends. No visitor passes will be issued prior to May 1, 2020. This date could be extended by the county.

If you are an Annual Lease holder but have not been in the resort continuously since March 1 or are not in the resort now, you may travel to the resort and stay in your unit. However, only the leaseholder will be admitted to the resort. When you arrive at the resort, we will verify that your driver’s license matches the name of the lease holder. We will also verify, using the driver’s license, that each person in your party shares the same home address. No one with a different home address on their driver’s license will be admitted to the resort. When you arrive, you must self-quarantine in your unit for a period of two weeks beginning with your arrival date. If, during the self-quarantine period, you begin to exhibit symptoms consistent with the coronavirus, please do not come to the office. Instead, seek medical attention. In addition, we are not able to admit any visiting family or friends. No visitor passes will be issued prior to May 1, 2020. This date could be extended by the county.

If your camping unit is stored at Lakewood Camping Resort, it is safe and secure. However, you will not be able to schedule a Lakewood vacation until, at the earliest, May 1, 2020. That date could be extended by the county.

At this point, we can take new reservations for future stays, but those stays must begin no sooner than May 1, 2020. That date could be extended by the county. Since the timeframe is uncertain, we have restricted internet reservations between now and May 31, 2020. This date is also subject to change. At this point, you can book online for June 1, 2020 or later.

We will be closing all in-park amenities at noon on Saturday, March 28. So, if your current departure date extends past that, your options for in-park entertainment will be limited.

Until further notice, The Trading Post will be open daily from 10 am to 2 pm with a limited prepared food menu. You may also come in, one guest at a time, for grocery purchases and see the clerk at the counter. You can place your grocery order and the clerk will retrieve your items and bring them to you. The Laundromat will remain open.

Until further notice, only the Main Gate will be available for guest use.

When the county has lifted the mandate and we return to full operations (receiving new guests, opening amenities, opening food and retail locations), we will notify you via the website, email and social media.

We will be keeping many of our recently instituted protocols in place. These will make the resort safer for both guests and employees. We will give more details when that date is scheduled, but we will continue with –

We apologize for the inconvenience. During the coronavirus outbreak, we have taken every precaution to make vacationing at Lakewood Camping Resort as safe as possible. We can’t wait to serve you again with a campground that is clean, safe and packed with all the amenities and activities that you’ve come to expect at Lakewood.

During the time period we are not receiving new guests, our office will be minimally staffed, so our capacity to answer a large influx of calls will be limited. If you will email info@lakewoodcampground.com with your questions or concerns, we will respond as quickly as possible. Our office will be open 8 AM-5 PM.

Update March 13th, 2020 3:00 PM

Lakewood Camping Resort Action Concerning Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Like you, we are keeping track of the rapidly changing information on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). As it has been for the last 60 years, the safety of Lakewood employees and guests is our top priority. Visit this page regularly for the latest information on what we’re doing to prepare for your Lakewood vacation. Our goal is to get you here and home safely with the least amount of risk.

Camping, by its very nature, is an outdoor activity. Our guests are never stuck in crowded elevators with other guests or using a room recently vacated by a prior guest. We do know, however, that you have ample opportunities to interact with other guests in adjacent sites or in our many recreational, food and retail venues. We don’t want to discourage those activities but encourage you to practice the “social distancing” recommended by those who are educating us on the transmission of this disease. We are doing many things in the resort that will help the interactions in shared spaces to be safer for you and your family.

Before You Arrive

Many of you (more than half of our guests last summer), pre-registered for your stay in 2019. Thirty days before your stay you received an email with the subject line “Pre Check-in Reminder”. By clicking on the link at the bottom of that email, you were able to provide, on our online guest portal, all of the information we normally collect at the Front Desk on your arrival date. We are encouraging everyone to pre-register this year. Not only will it speed your check-in, but you will not have to come into the office. Instead, you can pull to one of the check-in booths on the south side of the building and quickly pick up your wristbands and car pass. This will eliminate standing in line with other guests in a closed space.

Our Facilities

We’ve worked hard to keep our facilities clean and ready for guests for 60 years, but we’ve taken many additional extra actions in the light of the coronavirus threat.

Food Locations

Many of you enjoy our food locations during your Lakewood visit. Our food preparation protocols have always been very stringent and that won’t change. Our food preparation staff will continue to wear gloves at all times when preparing food and will continue to wash their hands when they change activities (for example, switching from washing dishes to food prep) before donning a new pair of gloves. Beginning immediately, we are adding these new protocols –

Amenities

We know that you and your family come to Lakewood to have fun and that won’t change. We are, however, making some operational changes –

Social Gatherings

Lakewood offers several organized worship, entertainment and social activities during the week. Like we’re doing with the coronavirus threat at large, we’ll pay special attention to CDC recommendations on gatherings. We will communicate with guests regularly about changes to the schedule if we determine that guest safety could be compromised by holding any of these events. Affected events could include –

Additional Information

Your Reservation

We want you to be in control of your stay at Lakewood Camping Resort. We are working hard to make your Lakewood vacation safe and enjoyable.

I hope you can sense the level of effort we’ve put into ensuring that each Lakewood employee and guest stays safe and healthy. We want you to vacation with us for many years to come.

If you have further questions, please contact us at 877-525-3966.
