8th Annual Grillers Cup Sept. 23 – 24
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Take your taste buds on a trip to Lakewood Camping Resort for the 8th Annual Grillers Cup September 23 & 24. The two-day event brings wing & barbeque lovers together to raise money for Help 4 Kids and Backpack Buddies.
On Friday, 20 teams from across the state of South Carolina will first compete in the Wing Competition. Beginning at 6 p.m., the public also gets a chance to taste their cookin’ when they donate to Help 4 Kids. Tickets are 1 for every $1 donation.
On Saturday, it’s onto the Pork Butt competition, which is sanctioned and judged by the South Carolina BBQ Association. Saturday’s cook-off opens to the public at 11 a.m. This year, Lakewood is also serving up mouth-watering sides to go with your barbeque.
When guests need a break from the food-tasting, they can browse the Silent Auction Tent and bid on exciting items including show tickets, camping equipment & other prize packages.
Both Friday & Saturday will feature live music and vendors. The family-friendly event will include face painting on Friday. Guests can also spin the Lakewood Camping Resort prize wheel for a chance to win prizes. WonderWorks will also be on site selling attraction tickets for $15. From each ticket sold, $5 will go to Help4Kids.

On Saturday, Lakewood Camping Resort will also offer $5 Fun Passes. It’s a chance for the public to experience the thrilling amenities offered at the resort, including three waterslides, a lazy river & a children’s splash pad. Lakewood Camping Resort is also running a Hall-O-Wood special for Grillers Cup guests! Attendees can book their spook-tacular October getaway at 10% off when they book at the Lakewood tent during the event on Friday and Saturday.*
In 2021, the Grillers Cup raised $10,000 for Help 4 Kids/Backpack Buddies. Backpack Buddies is a Horry County non-profit that works to help eliminate child hunger in the community. The organization supplies participating schools with nutritious, self-serve food to feed children when not at school.

The Best Chicken Wing Competition on Friday will be judged by a team of celebrity judges. Prize for best wings is $300.
Saturday’s Pork Butt competition is sanctioned and judged by the South Carolina BBQ Association and counts toward the state championship rankings.
Pork Butt Competition Prizes:
First Place Trophy + $1,500.00 + Free Entry to 2023 Event
Second Place Trophy + $1,000.00
Third Place Trophy + $800.00
One campsite is included in $300 registration fee along with water, and sewer. Each site is at least 35 FT.
