It’s a thrilling week at Lakewood Camping Resort as we host hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts choosing to call the oceanfront resort home for the 2024 Spring Bike Rally.
Every May, bikers can enjoy the experience of cruising to their beachside campsites as they set up camp at Lakewood for a week of excitement.
The annual bike rally offers Lakewood Campground Ministry a unique opportunity to serve the resort’s guests. Partnering with other ministries, Lakewood Campground Ministry hosts three Biker Pancake Breakfasts throughout the week. KrashKourse 4:13, a stand-alone ministry and band from Liberty, South Carolina, spearheads these events.
“To be able to do this each year, it’s always the highlight of our year. We look forward to it,” expressed Denise Wright, the Secretary Treasurer of KrashKourse 4:13.
Thursday marked the first of this year’s breakfasts, with about 165 guests indulging in a pancake breakfast free of charge. This is more than double the usual amount from last year’s Thursday breakfast, Wright explained.
“It was a lot more than we anticipated,” Wright exclaimed.
Even more plates are expected to be served during the breakfasts held on Friday and Saturday of this week.
“Seeing the community of faith we have here this week is a perfect picture of what it’s like to be one big family,” said Evan Hucks, Lakewood Campground Ministry’s Associate Chaplain.
Hucks works alongside Wright year after year to cater to Lakewood’s Bike Week guests. This year, Freedom Biker Church, Labor of the Field Church Rehab & Outreach Center and Ramble on Biker Church are also joining in on the effort.
“Serving others is one of the most important things we can do, and this group of bikers does it with their whole heart,” Hucks explained about partnering with the visiting ministries.
“It’s been great working with them while I’ve been here the last two years. They are incredible and a joy to work with,” Hucks said.
KrashKourse 4:13 is not only a Christian ministry but also an uplifting source of entertainment at Lakewood. The group will host a concert for Lakewood guests this Saturday and lead Sunday Worship at 10 a.m. While the concert is not open to the public, Sunday Worship at Lakewood Camping Resort is always an open invitation for the community.
