If you’ve done everything there is to do along the Grand Strand and you’re still looking for more, a roughly 2-hour drive to the south will bring you to Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is a hustling and bustling city which showcases the true roots of the low-country culture. A modernized city which is housed in historic buildings, is where you will find eclectic food and shops. Whether you want to peruse the city’s historical, downtown market, go on a carriage tour, or take a boat ride over to Fort Sumpter, the whole family will enjoy this amazing day-trip!

If you’re not prepared to drive another two hours out of your way, a 30 minute drive west will bring you to downtown, historic Conway. Here you will find blocks of mom-and-pop shops and restaurants as well as the gorgeous Conway Riverwalk.

Halfway between Lakewood and Charleston you will come to find Georgetown, which has a similar feel to downtown Conway. Main Street is the home of historic homes, shops, and restaurant, which all sit waterfront.
