The 9th Annual Grillers Cup at Lakewood Camping Resort brought wing and barbeque lovers together for a great cause!
Despite the weather being less than favorable for the event on September 22 & 23, more than $11,000 was raised for Backpack Buddies/Help4Kids!
Twenty teams from across the state competed in this year’s cook-off. Giving guests plenty of samples to taste over the two-day event.
Ticket sales raised $10,000 for the Horry County non-profit dedicated to supplying food and other necessities to local school age children.

The Silent Auction and 50/50 raffle boosted the funds raised to $11,800, money that will go directly toward serving children in our community.
WonderWorks was also able to donate $350.00 to the non-profit. The Myrtle Beach attraction was on-site to sell tickets during the event. A portion of each ticket sold went directly to Backpack Buddies.
“We are so overwhelmed with gratitude for the support that we received from the staff, volunteers, grillers, sponsors, and the South Carolina Barbecue Association at the 9th Annual Grillers Cup! The money collected will go directly to the 3,000 children that we serve in Horry County. Without everyone in the community we could not continue our 100% volunteer mission of ‘no child hungry,” said Bridget Brancato with Backpack Buddies.
Lakewood Camping Resort is grateful for the dedicated cook teams that support this event year after year.
